The cheapest job you’ll book this year is from somebody who already paid you once.

You have a list.

It’s in your invoicing software, your job history, a spreadsheet, maybe a shoebox. Hundreds of people who let you into their house, paid you, and were happy enough not to complain.

Almost none of them have heard from you since.

Meanwhile you’re spending money to find strangers. Strangers are the most expensive customer there is — you pay to be found, pay to be chosen, and pay to be trusted. Your list has already done all three.

Why email

Why this beats almost everything else you can spend on

You own the list

No algorithm change, no bid increase, no platform between you and the customer. It’s the only marketing channel nobody can take away from you.

It fills the quiet months

October and March are when shops go hungry. Your list is the only lever that produces work on demand without waiting for someone’s system to break.

The cost is close to nothing

No cost-per-lead, no auction. You’re paying for the writing and the sending, not for access.

It sells the thing that stabilises your business

Maintenance plans turn one-off customers into recurring revenue and give you a reason to be in their house twice a year.

The campaigns

What we actually send

Seasonal tune-up campaigns

Pre-summer and pre-winter, timed a few weeks ahead of when your market panics. Booked in advance means your trucks are full before the rush and you’re not bidding against every other shop for emergency leads.

Maintenance plan offers

The single most valuable thing you can sell an existing customer. Recurring revenue, scheduled visits, and a service history that makes replacement conversations easy later.

Replacement and upgrade nudges

You know roughly when each system was installed. Somebody with a 16-year-old unit is a replacement conversation, and it’s better had in April than during a July failure.

Filter and reminder emails

Small, useful, unglamorous. It keeps you in the inbox being helpful rather than only appearing when you want money.

Seasonal and market-specific notes

Freeze warnings, heat waves, rebate and tax credit changes. Genuinely useful, and it’s the kind of thing that gets forwarded.

Process

How we run it

01

Clean the list first

Deduplicate, remove bounces, standardise formatting, strip anyone who’s asked out. Sending to a dirty list hurts your deliverability, which quietly means your future emails stop reaching inboxes at all.

02

Write it in your voice

Short, plain, from you — not from “the marketing team at.” Contractors have an enormous advantage here: your customers actually met you. Emails that sound like the person who fixed their furnace outperform anything that sounds like a brand.

03

Send on a rhythm they can predict

Not constant. A monthly cadence plus seasonal pushes. The fastest way to burn a list is to only ever email it when you want something.

04

Track to jobs, not to opens

Opens have become close to meaningless as a metric. What we care about is calls, bookings and revenue attributable to a send.

05

Stay compliant

Real unsubscribe on every send, honest subject lines, physical address in the footer — the basics of CAN-SPAM. And if you want to text rather than email, that’s a different rulebook with real teeth; see below.

The part with legal teeth

Email vs text

Email is comparatively forgiving. Text is not.

Automated texting requires proper consent, captured on a form built for it — unchecked by default, with the disclosure visible above the submit button. Statutory damages run $500 to $1,500 per text. Carriers also require a live privacy policy and terms page before they’ll approve any SMS campaign at all.

Practically: we can run email to your existing customer list. We can’t run automated texting off a form we didn’t build. If texting is where you want to get to, the website comes first — that’s a sequencing constraint, not a sales tactic.

Proof

How you’ll know it’s working

The number we report is jobs booked per send, not opens.

Every campaign gets a tracked number or a tracked link so calls and bookings tie back to the send that produced them. You see: sent, delivered, replies and calls, jobs booked, revenue where you can give us the data.

We record your current baseline — what your list is producing today, which for most shops is zero — so the comparison is honest.

Why Talos

Four reasons

One client per market

One HVAC company per market. We fight your competition, not build it.

The list stays yours

Your account, your contacts, exportable any time. We’re not holding your customer list.

We report jobs, not opens

60 days, or your money back

If we haven’t earned our fee, ask and you get it back.

FAQ

Straight answers

We can usually build one from your invoicing or job history. Most contractors have a far bigger list than they think — it’s just never been in one place.

Monthly, plus seasonal pushes. Enough to be remembered, not enough to be unsubscribed from.

Only if every email asks for money. Mix useful with offers and it reads as service rather than selling.

Yes, but consent rules are strict and the penalties are real, and it needs a compliant form we built. Email first, texting once the site’s in place.

Those are often the best ones. A system from eight years ago is a replacement conversation now.

Open your invoicing software and count how many customers you’ve served in the last three years

That number is the cheapest pipeline you’ll ever have, and right now it’s doing nothing.

We’ll send you a free audit including what’s actually in your customer list, what it could realistically produce, and the three campaigns we’d run first. Yours either way.
